Description
16 bit LFSR which yields all 2^16-1 non-zero 16-bit values in a pseudo-random sequence. Each press of the button performs the following 16 times: takes the XOR of bits 15, 13, 12, and 10, performs a left shift, and pushes the computed XOR value into the new LSB.
More mathematically, the outputs can be viewed as elements of the finite field of order 2^16, realised as the polynomial quotient ring F2[x]/(x^16+x^5+x^3+x^2+1), and pressing the button can be viewed as multiplying by the generator x^-16 of the order 2^16-1 cyclic multiplicative group of non-zero elements in this field.
